ADVANCED TAILORED LAMPSHADES
a masterclass in pattern cutting
Vintage dome-shaped shades, a Tiffany-inspired bell, or something curvy from the 1940s... they are all fabulous and they require particular techniques for pattern cutting and fitting. This workshop is designed to bring lampshade makers on to the next level of pattern cutting of tricky shapes ...
about the course
Once the lampshade maker has perfected the craft of covering a typical empire shade, they are bound to set their sights on something trickier. This masterclass is designed to unveil the mysteries of unusual and challenging shapes, and allow lampshade makers to spread their creative wings and deal with them confidently.
As well as covering all of the core skills for covering a lining a done shaped shade, this course will cover: pattern cutting for curvaceous shapes; using fabric on the straight of the grain; fitting a lining onto a dome; layering of fringing and gimp braid.
Students will be working on scalloped dome shades, which are ideal for learning many of the techniques covered. Whatever your experience, creativity and experimentation will be actively encouraged. Suitable for students who have already mastered basic lampshade making.
